Intro to Shed Hunting
Intro to Shed Hunting
Join us on Saturday, April 5th for an introduction to antler shed hunting with artist, conservationist, and expert shed hunter, Jeremiah Stone.
Come out to learn the basics or just for an excuse to get outside in the spring!
Deer bucks use their antlers to attract females and protect themselves against other sparring males. At the end of the mating season, whitetails shed their antlers to conserve energy. In early spring, most bucks have dropped their racks, and by summer, they have grown new antlers in their place.
Early April is the perfect time to go for a walk to try to spot some of the “white gold” our local bucks have left behind. Shed hunting is all about getting out in the woods and truly exploring our beautiful forests as winter fades away.
